So it’s been Valentine’s Day, the weekend after Valentine’s day I always like to watch chick flicks and eat discounted chocolate and pamper myself. It makes me feel good about myself and it’s nice to have a ME day and practise self care.

Favourite Office (UK) Quotes

“I suppose I’ve created an atmosphere where I’m a friend first and a boss second. Probably an entertainer third.”  – David Brent

“If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain. Do you know which ‘philosopher’ said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she’s just a pair of tits.” – David Brent

“You know the phrase softly softly catchy monkey? …I could catch a monkey – if I was starving I could. I’d make poison darts out of the poison off deadly frogs. One milligram of that poison can kill a monkey. Or a man. Prick yourself, you’ll be dead within a day. Or longer. Different frogs, different times.” – Gareth

“There was, oh my God, a themed nightclub called Henry the Eighth’s. This was incredible. It had the Anne Bowl-in Alley, this is true, as you went into the loo, there was a sign that said “Mind Your Head” – nice… and underneath someone had written “Don’t get your Hampton Court.” It’s not there any more. But not a day goes by that I don’t think about it.” – Tim

“In “talking head”] Have you got everything you need? [The interviewer answers affirmatively off-camera] Cheers.[He gets up and walks off camera]” – David Brent

Favourite Doctor Who Christmas Special

The Runaway bride.

My favourite Doctor Who Christmas Special is the Runaway Bride. It stars Catherine Tate and David Tennant. Catherine Tate is a brilliant comedian who is only made funnier with David Tennant along side her. The two have really good chemistry on screen and it makes the Christmas special better as a result.

Not only is this episode funny like having Donna call the doctor a Martian and her getting angry at everyone for having the reception without her. But it also addresses the fact that the Doctor has just lost Rose. We also see that the Doctor still needs someone with him. Donna slowly eases us into him having a new companion ready for the new season and shows us the Doctor still needs someone to be there with him during his adventures. Donna addresses this when she says she won’t join him but that he should find someone to travel with.

Overall I love this one because it’s one of the funniest Doctor Who Christmas Specials and also it still has some serious and sad undertones which ties the whole episode together

Favourite Christmas Film

How the Grinch stole Christmas.

The Grinch is my favourite Christmas film. It’s funny and it also reminds you that Christmas isn’t about things it’s about the people around you.

Jim Carrey is hilarious and a great comedian and his role as the Grinch is perfect. Not only is he funny but he also manages to portray the pain that the Grinch harbours deep down from his childhood.

I love this film because it’s a feel good film and I think it’s great if your with someone who you think is a bit of a Grinch because it will even warm their heart.

Favourite Christmas Gilmore Girls Episode

When I think of Gilmore Girls I always think of Autumn and Christmas.

Whether it’s Lorelai’s love of snow or the amazing food Sookie creates, Stars Hollow is a perfect place for Christmas.

My favourite Christmas episode of Gilmore Girls is Season 7, Episode 11 ‘Santa’s Secret Stuff’. I love that Lorelai holds off on everything Christmas until Rory gets back from London. I think it’s such a lovely gesture and definitely something that is totally Lorelai. It such a sweet idea that I’d do for my loved ones if I needed to.  This is also the first and only episode that Lorelai and Rory are shown celebrating Christmas.

We also find out about Rory and Lorelai’s Christmas traditions such as; taping mistletoe to the ceiling fan upstairs to make the kissing more like a sport, red and green m&ms in their cereal Christmas morning,  Putting stockings on the banister, and having holiday candy-cane coffee at Westons. They also start some new traditions with Christopher and Gigi like watching the film Christmas in July and baking cookies together as a family. I also love that Lorelai and Rory buy all well seven of the sad almost dead Christmas trees for their late Christmas.

Top Five Favourite TV Shows

  1. Supernatural – I love Supernatural. The characters are amazing, They have flaws you can relate to and other flaws we might not be able to relate to. Since I started watching Supernatural it really helped me deal with my Mental Health and be a part of campaigns such as the Always Keep Fighting campaign and the Love Yourself First campaign.
  2. Doctor Who – I first started watching Doctor Who in 2005. I watched the first episode when it aired with my uncle, it was something we used to do every Saturday. It was a tradition we loved to do and it brought us closer and although I don’t like him very much anymore it was nice when I was growing up. I loved Doctor Who and I still do I haven’t stopped watching it. I watched it when Christopher Eccleston was in it and I loved it, when David Tennant was in it and I loved it. When Matt Smith was in Doctor Who even though I really liked David Tennant I still loved Matt Smith as the Doctor. I thought Peter Capaldi was also great as the Doctor and I can’t wait to watch Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor this year.
  3. Gilmore Girls – I got into this towards the end of last year. My best friends both love this Tv Show and they wanted to share this with me. I love it, I’m currently rewatching it now. I love the characters, I grew up with a single parent, my mum, and I drew so many similarities from Gilmore Girls from my own life. Emily Gilmore reminds me of a warmer version of my grandmother only my grandmother treats me the same way Emily treats Lorelai.
  4. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – This is something I started watching February this year. Another one of my friends recommended this Tv Show to me. I love that it’s kinda like a musical comedy. The songs are amazing and some of them are funny and others speak to you on another level. I suffer with Mental Health and it’s nice to see it portrayed and not glamorised in Tv. We see the nitty gritty of Rebecca’s breakdown and suicide attempt and the affect it has on everyone include herself.
  5. Parks and Recreation – I found this Tv Show by myself. I found lots of posts about Parks and Rec and lots of quotes and they seemed funny and I was interested in actually watching the show. I got amazon prime and I realised I could watch it on amazon prime so that’s when I decided to watch it. I loved it. All the characters are amazing (Yes even Jerry). My favourite character is Leslie, she’s a very powerful role model and it’s nice to see her struggle but also beat the odds.

Favourite female character

Jody Mills – Supernatural

Jody Mills loses a lot when we first meet her, her husband and her son are both dead at the end of the episode we first see her in and she is now exposed to the supernatural world. She learns a lot about the Supernatural goings on and she learns to defend herself. Even when she meets Donna she is a little skeptical about letting her guard down even for a second. She takes in both Alex and Claire and with them she takes both of their troubled pasts and tries to give them a normal life and make them go to school even though their lives have been interrupted by the supernatural. She parents both of the girls and sometimes even the Winchesters. She even managed to deal with Crowley and live. I also think that Kim Rhodes portrayed the character of Jody Mills beautifully and I am so thankful for this amazing, underrated, parent like character who isn’t perfect and that’s ok.
