The End of Supernatural

So it’s official Supernatural is ending after Season 15. It shouldn’t come to a surprise for Supernatural fans as the show has been going for nearly 15 years and yet most us thought it would never end. I remember hoping every time that Supernatural got renewed for a new season, this news came as such a shock for me. I think I’m still processing but I feel so much sadness that it’s over but also happiness that I got to witness Supernatural while it was still going.

I’ve mentioned before in previous blogs that Supernatural has really helped me in my life, I found Supernatural when I was in a really rough part of my life and it made me not feel alone. Whether that was watching the show, talking to other fans or even Jared Padalecki’s Always Keep Fighting campaign.

It’s all touched me in a way I never thought would be possible from a TV show. I’ve found so many new actors that I love such as Felicia Day and Mark Sheppard. I loved Felicia Day as Charlie Bradbury in Supernatural and when I googled her I found The Guild which I loved every minute of and then I bought her book You’re Never Weird on the Internet which I also loved. I also found out Jared Padalecki was in Gilmore Girls and gave that a go and I loved the whole of Gilmore girls. I found so many different things I love just from watching Supernatural and in extension the actors. I got involved in some Gishwhes challenges such as popcorn monster baby grow and an angel made out of sanitary products and I loved every minute of it.

Dean Forester – Dean was Rory’s first boyfriend. He didn’t value smarts first so that would rule out Ravenclaw for Dean. He wasn’t very interested in college or excelling in his career. He did love Rory though and he looked after her, protected her, he even built her a car. He was so loyal to Rory even when he knew her head was getting turned by Jess. As well as that afterwards he still tried to be friends with her because he still valued her friendship. He was also still nice to Lorelai even though he was no longer dating her daughter. His quick temper is something that he can’t always control which was be the only thing that would differ from the usual Hufflepuff attributes. However, we all have our flaws and having a quick temper doesn’t stop him from being loyal and he tries to control his temper. Overall I would put Dean Forester in Hufflepuff.

Jess Mariano – Jess is very into learning but it has to be on his terms. He failed his last year of school because he didn’t attend even though he could have passed school if he had attended more lessons. Jess likes to find out things for himself and he has lots of traits that Ravenclaws have such as; Intelligence, Individuality, and Creativity. He ends up becoming a writer which I feel is a job that some Ravenclaws would have. He shares a lot of traits with Ravenclaws however he also shares traits with other houses. He can also be a jerk sometimes, playing with Rory’s emotions while she was with Dean, not communicating with Rory and leaving her waiting around for him. He’s quite often starting fights, at school, with Dean, this can be seen as a Gryffindor trait but I don’t quite think Jess is a Gryffindor. I lot of the things he did to win Rory over were very calculated and may have been seen as a Slytherin trait however I feel like this is more of a Ravenclaw trait. The way he made Rory jealous and compete with showing more affection to Dean to try to make him jealous which ended up playing right into his hands. Also when he out bid Dean on Rory’s basket that made Dean far more jealous than he originally was and also started the wedge further which led to Dean breaking up with Rory. Overall I would put Jess in Ravenclaw because his traits and what he values more which is knowledge would put him in Ravenclaw.

 

Logan Huntzberger – Logan was stuck between Slytherin and Gryffindor. He has the cunning and ambition of a Slytherin but also has the thrill seeking and bravery of a Gryffindor. He can be reckless, when he was part of the life and death brigade he did a dangerous jump with Rory when he took her to her first event for her article. Not only that but later on in Gilmore girls he ends up getting hurt because of one of the stunts he did in the life and death brigade. The reckless and brave (although in some cases stupidity) attitude he had when it came to the life and death brigade would be traits towards Gryffindor. He can be lazy and entitled when he worked for the Yale Daily News he showed up when he felt like it because he knew that Doyle would suck up to him because his father was a publishing tycoon. He rode on the coat tails of the old money tied to his families name. Coming from old money and also using that for its own gain could be likened to Draco Malfoy who was a Slytherin and to many other Slytherins like him. However, I’d like to get away from that Stereotype that all Slytherins are purebloods and evil because I’m not here for that. Logan is a romantic; he not only helped Luke when he forgot to get a Valentine’s gift for Lorelai but also gave Rory a rocket when he left for London. The rocket was a reference to an episode of a show they watched which meant that he thought she was his true love and he would wait forever just to eventually spend time with her and grow old together. Logan shows many traits from Gryffindor; Bravery, Courage, recklessness, thrill seeking. As well as this he also shows many traits from Slytherin; Ambitious, Cunning, Charming, and not to mention Persuasive. Not to mention he stole a boat which to be fair could happen to either houses. Overall this was the hardest sorting I have had to do for a character, I would put Logan in Slytherin because although he can be reckless I also feel he has ambition and he finds a way to excel even if it may not be a career.

Jared Padalecki isn’t perfect!

Jared Padalecki isn’t perfect…..and that’s why he has made such a big impact on myself and many others.

He has struggled with mental health. So many of us suffer from a type of mental health issue and even if we don’t we know someone close to us that does. So often people don’t address mental health and there’s a massive stigma about it. Instead of not letting the public know Jared shared not only his mental health issues he also started the ‘Always Keep Fighting’ campaign which also led to the ‘You Are Not Alone’ campaign and also a phrase which I have learnt to love ‘ Love yourself first’.

Not only has he admitted to his own mental health issues once, he has shared countless times his own struggles with his mental health. Every time he helps someone else. He used his mental health issues to not only raise mental health awareness but also to raise money for loads of people who need help.

I’ve been dealing with my mental health for 4 years now and when I first heard about the Always Keep Fighting campaign and found out one of my favourite characters in Supernatural was also dealing with his on struggles suddenly I didn’t feel so alone with all my problems. It also inspired me to start this blog so I could raise awareness about mental health and also hopefully make someone else feel less alone.

So Jared Padalecki may not be perfect but neither are we and that’s ok because we are still fighting everyday.

One of my Favourite Male Actors

Jared Padalecki

I first found out who Jared Padalecki was when I watched Supernatural first time. I had heard of him before this on Tumblr and due to so many different gifs and memes. This is also why I started watching Supernatural because I had so much second hand fandom. I had a pretty healthy obsession with him while watching Supernatural and I loved the character Sam and I thought he played it so well and the on screen and off screen chemistry with Jensen was just amazing and unbelievable.

The Always Keep Fighting (AFK) Campaign was something I kinda stumbled on by chance, I had decided to start following all of the supernatural characters pages Jared, Jensen, Misha, Mark Shepard and many others where included in this crazy following episode. By following Jared Padalecki’s page this meant that when he posted about his latest campaign it came up on my timeline on Facebook and I saw it and clicked on it and found out so much about his struggle and his campaign and also about the charity. I bought my first T-Shirt from Creation Stands due to that and I am so grateful because wearing that T-Shirt and the many others I bought from the AFK campaign and many other campaigns bring me so much strength and also make me feel like I’m not alone in my mental health issues. I owe that to Jared Padalecki and him using his fame to help people and that is why he is one of my favourite male actors.

I also recently like a month ago started watching Gilmore Girls and I finished it all Saturday last week and Jared was such a good actor even when he was younger and I was really amazed by his acting when I watched it and was also surprised because I didn’t know he was in it. It is so weird that he is called Dean in Gilmore Girls and then in Supernatural he has a brother called Dean.

 

I think that Jared Padalecki is an amazing Actor and is an even more amazing and incredible person. His campaigns have helped so many different people and every time I see someone write about one of his campaigns I see so much love and how another persons life has been changed for the better as a result. He has inspired so many people to get help with their tough times or to just talk to someone. He helped me to realised how strong I am and even though he will never know who I am or how he helped me I will always know just how much those campaigns helped me and my mental health.
